Erring Helps
The RG was interested in misunderstandings, 'mis-readings' and erring occurring in these processes to contribute to a genealogy of cultural globalisation.
The research group Erring Helps was active from 2001 until 2005 and was concerned with the transfer and translation of "material cultures" – words, texts or cultural practices – and their circulation among different societal, cultural or national contexts.
Publications
The research group published two anthologies, translated Georges Bataille's Dictionnaire Critique and published several articles.
Workshop
In March 2003 the RG Erring Helps, together with BBAW-member (The Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of the Sciences and Humanities) Jürgen Osterhammel, organised a workshop entitled "The Transnational German Empire. Germany in the World 1871-1914".
Press
The volume "Das Irrsal hilft" was reviewed in various papers.
