Workshop „Proofing the Academy“

Event

Starts on
07.11.25
Ends on
08.11.25

Event access: Internal

Attacks on academic freedom occur with some regularity in Germany and are becoming increasingly severe. However, there has been no systematic recording of (types of) cases and counterstrategies at German research institutions to date. The project "Proofing the Academy" aims to close this gap in three steps with the intention of developing a practical toolkit. In the first of three workshops, existing attacks and threats to academic freedom in Germany will be mapped. To this end, individuals from academia and science-related fields who deal with attacks on the freedom of scientists and institutions in an academic or practical context will come together. By pooling existing empirical knowledge, casuistic vulnerability profiles will be developed. The workshop will be facilitated by a moderator specialising in scenarios.

    • Workshop "The Language(s) of Academia"

Language shapes scientific thinking, writing and communication – yet often remains invisible. In the workshop "The Language(s) of Academia", participants reflect on the challenges and potential of multi-lingualism in science by translating their own research into their native language.
